Is There a Gore-Obama Ticket in the Future? Tell Us Your Thoughts.

BuzzFlash.com doesn't support Democratic candidates in primaries, but we thought we would toss this hypothetical 2008 presidential ticket out there. A number of online blogs have pondered the possiblity.

Tell us what you think of a Gore-Obama campaign.

Could they be the duo to beat another Republican actor (and lobbyist): Fred Thompson?

Is There a Gore-Obama Ticket in the Future? Tell Us Your Thoughts.

GORE - CIC ; BIDEN - VP

The best way to get me to wait 2 hours in an Ohio poll line is to have a Democratic ticket with Al Gore as Commander in Chief, and Joe Biden as vice prez. Gore is the only one to get the CIC job done, and Biden is the only one with a real solution for Iraq. Come 'on Mr. Gore, whaddya say? Maybe you can turn the Great State of Ohio blue.

The Strongest Democratic Ticket ...

The following is a link to an article I wrote back in January for Brown University's Brown Daily Herald about the prospect of this awesome one-two punch of a Democratic ticket. "GoBama in 2008!"

http://media.www.browndailyherald.com/media/storage/paper472/news/2007/01/26/Opinions/Don-Trella.08.GoreObama.The.Strongest.Democratic.Ticket.For.2008-2680334.shtml

Gore 2008

I believe Al Gore is our best candidate for the 2008 election. He is knowledgable, experienced and honest. I believe if he were to run he would win by a land slide. He has my vote.

Mary Ann Clark, CA.

Gore yes Obama no

I say Al Gore and Lou Dobbs, we need 2 Americans in the White House who will do what is best for American Citizens.

GORE, YES! OBAMA - NEVER!

I want GORE & would back him 100%, BUT Gore would loose my vote (and MANY others) if he EVER ran with OBAMA. No one wants OBAMA. I would NEVER vote for OBAMA in any office.

Gore - Yes! Obama -

Gore - Yes!
Obama - No!

Obama is inexperienced and basically, to sum him up in one simple word, lame.

Gore should run

I think Gore deserves another shot after winning in 2000. I think whoever comes in second to him in the primary should be his running mate. If Obama can get there I think he would be a good choice. I'm not a Hillary fan but she might make a good VP choice as would Edwards or Biden or maybe Richardson. Paul/Jeb '08

A Gore/Obama ticket would get crushed by the impending Ron Paul/Jeb Bush ticket on the other side. Jeb did a great job in florida, but sadly cannot run at the top of a national ticket due to Bush fatigue. Maybe 8 years as veep will give the country enough of a break to elect him in 2016.

Edwards-Richardson

It is certainly Gore's if he wants it, though you have to wonder why he would. He keeps saying he's not running and there is no reason beyond the romantic notion that he deserves the nomination for having the job -- allowing it to be? -- stolen from him in 2000. As far as both policy and politics go, Edwards and Richardson would make an unbeatable team, combining vision, experience and political savvy. It's true that Edwards needs to be moved to a more sensible position on health care, but so do all the Democratic candidates but Kucinich. If Gore does decide to run, either Gore-Edwards or Gore-Richardson would be a far more formidable team than Gore-Obama, despite the latter's attractive persona. Gore, Edwards and Richardson all have the potential to be great presidents. It is less than certain that Obama, whom the New Yorker has aptly dubbed The Conciliator, is their equal. (Impractical Proposals)

Yes!!!!! Please!!!!!!!

I am troubled by a few of the comments in this thread, that seem to reflect a purist point of view that has no chance of ever winning elections (at least, not in time to save the country.)

Anyone who has listened to Al Gore through the last 6 years knows that his has been the one consistent, principled, outspoken, impassioned voice on every issue--torture, civil liberties, Iraq, terrorism, spying on American citizens, the environment. His most recent book is outstanding. I would quit my business and volunteer for him if he would only run. And I think Obama would be an inspired vp choice. I don't agree with Obama on every issue for sure, and I'm sure I could look back at Gore's record longterm and find things with which I disagree. I have no problem with a public figure evolving and changing his position as facts and the times change. The Al Gore I see is mature, is right on every issue--and brave enough to speak out--and feels he has nothing to lose. What a magnificent candidate THAT would be!

Yes!!!!! Please!!!!!!!

Mr Gore sure showed leadership when the sanctions were on Iraq from 1991 until 2003 and 500 thousand children under the age of 5 died for lack of food and medicine. Only one candidate from either party, Dennis Kucinich voted against the war in 2002.

And when it comes to universal healthcare, Mr Gore along with President Clinton and Speaker Gephardt left Hillary Clinton out to dry when the Republicans opposed her healthcare plan. Again Mr Kucinich has proposed a universal single payer healthcare plan that makes more sense than any plan that has been proposed by anyone. But since he proposes peace and is against war, the Dems just like the warmongering chickenhawks in power right now, want no part of peace because they are too beholden to the military industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned us about when he left office in 1961.

Gore/Obama Ticket? Sure, but how about Gore/Richardson?

Although I certainly would vote (and enthusiastically) for a Gore/Obama ticket, my first choice would be a Gore/Richardson ticket. Vice President Gore's abilities and strengths are well known and wide-ranging and he is a proven campaigner and winner. Governor Richardson repeatedly has been a winner, too, and his experience in foreign policy is impressive. Gore/Richardson is a team that not only could win in '08, but also could be extremely effective in the White House. Given that environmental and foreign policy are two of the areas most badly battered and broken under the Bush/Cheney regime, a Gore/Richardson administration is exactly what we need to bring the U.S. back to being a resposnsible, respected, even admired member of the community of nations.

No Gore, No Obama.

Why in the world would anyone want to run a candidate (Gore or Kerry) who lost to the worst President in the history of our country? Why would anyone want to run a Freshman Senator who can't even be bothered to listen to the questions posed by other Senators in the Foreign Relations committee and the resulting testimony, and only comes strutting in when it is time to ask his own questions? Particularly when our country sits on the brink of World War 3 and we have to start to learn how to get along with the other kids on the block.

Al Gore for President

The one name that has not been mentioned as VP running mate with Gore is General Wesley Clark. I think he would be perfect. Two of the smartest men on the planet working together to save this country from the devastation caused by 8 very, very long years of the Bush/Cheney Crime Families. Clark is a Military man but not a "Soldier for GAWD" like those now working for this cabal. This bunch is going to leave the world in flames and we need real intelligence and real diplomacy to correct this. As far as Obama, I just do not trust him any more than I trust Hillary. Watching Obama fawn all over LIEberman during his senate bid was disgusting and Hillary cannot make a decision based on anything but putting her finger in the wind. NO THANKS to both of these people. I believe that both Gore and Clark have populist leanings and We the People need a team that will keep us in mind and do what is best for our Country and our People. GORE/CLARK - A winning team.

Gore/Clark

I'm with you as I feel Gore/Clark would be a hard team for anyone to beat. You have both the experience of the office and also the military side of the positions. Let's face it Bush has no intention of getting us out of Iraq before he leaves office. The oil isn't dry yet.

Good, but need Better!!!

I believe they are both good men in their own rights, but what this country needs is a release on the stranglehold of the two-part system. The powers that be have made it almost impossible for party of significance and with any true republic sights in mind to come through and be elected, let alone be able to situate themselves in the limelight as the two dog-n-pony show circus shows we have right now. We need TRUE grassroots Americans to run this country, and not a bunch of puppetted back-scratchers, who get rich off of good-ol-boy tactics. The government is here to serve the people, NOT the people here to serve the government. Let's take it back! Do your part! Stand up for your rights! Sign on-line petitions! Donate to righteous causes! March and peaceful protest those things we see unethical in our views! Be an American, and stand up for your rights!!!

The two-party system

The two-party system is what we have now and what we will have in the 08 election. It's certainly not perfect but it IS what we will have to deal with in this next election cycle. It is not realistic to think that will change over the next 18 months. It is, however, something that we should take on after 08 and try to establish a better method of electing our leaders from a field of We The People and not a field of We the Corporate Puppets.

Gore

I saw Al Gore in Portland, Oregon. He was doing a thing on climate change. He impressed me very much.
I would vote for him, regardless of any VP he might choose except Lieberman.
Looking at Obama, I would think that the Gore, Obama ticket would be a very good ticket.
We need People in the white house who care about the environment and not just the bottom line of Halliburton. We need someone who is oppose to trading blood for oil and these two people are the someones.

I WOULD LIKE GORE/EDWARDS TEAM INSTEAD

I really like and admire John Edwards and feel he would compliment Vice President Gore best. If it came to it being Gore/Obama I still would vote for them, but I still feel John Edwards would be the best VP.

The two best "presidential"

The two best "presidential" non-candidates that aren't being discussed are Rocky Anderson, the Bush-bashing greenie Mayor of Salt Lake City (oh, the irony)and Bill "but is America ready for a ph.d. as president" Moyer.

Gore-Obama

Not - I would prefer Edwards/Dean, or Edwards/Richardson. Gore has come into his own with the environmental issues and would make a great Secretary for the Environment. Edwards has proved his commitment to the people since he made all his money suing big corporations, and his health plan shows understanding of the connections between health care and the economy - He has labor support and the health care plan would get him small and big business support. Both Dean and Richardson have demonstrated their ability to manage government and negotiate competing interests. I also vote for Biden as Secy of State and Wes Clark as Secy of Defense. Hilary could go back to her true interest as HHS Secy and bring Dick Riley back for Education.

Edwards is against single-payer

Edwards' health-care plan is just another mandatory insurance plan. Make insurance mandatory and prices go up. It's another huge wealth transfer from working joes to big corporations. What we need is single-payer, not more corporate profiteering.

Dunno bout Edwards

He's been to Bilderberg conferences... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg_Group.

Not sure I can trust him. Anyone who voted for the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution knew exactly what they were doing. So did the people who voted against it.

Gore-Obama Ticket in 2008

At first glance, a great ticket. At second glance, the best an otherwise dismal political landscape has to offer. Hillary and Obama can't be president for obvious reasons (sex and race, respectively). Gore lacks charisma.

In fact, neither party has a canditdate with the intellectual and intestinal leadership capabilities necessary to 'lead' this fractured nation.

That said, though, a Gore-Obama ticket would appear to offer the nation the greatest opportunity to avoid implosion...

Gore and Obama

Gore? Prince Albert? What have you been ingesting?
Gore's day has passed if it ever existed. Off the top, here are a few reasons why Gore is not a serious option.

* The facts bolstering Inconventient Truth were in the NYT and other publications about 20 years ago. Had Gore made his movie then, maybe something positive could have happened between then and now.

* Gore followed bad advice (a consultant's or his own) to distance himself from Bill Clinton in the 2000 election. (Let's face is, Clinton probably would have been re-elected in 2000 if not for the 2 term limit.)

* Gore never said he invented the internet. The neocons said he did, Gore didn't disclaim the lie, and most of America believes he said it.

* Gore's first action after getting the nomination was Joe Lieberman, as in "Dubya and Joe sitting in a tree...."

* When Gore did win the 2000 election, he didn't claim it. He rolled over and played dead.

Forget the Possum.

OBAMA LEADS ALL REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES

Poll after poll is showing what supporters of Barack Obama have long known. He is the Democratic Party's strongest candidate in the general election. While Hillary and Edwards lag behind the sagging John McCain and Rudy Guiliani, Barack beats them all including Deadhead Fred Thompson, 50% to 31%.

Team-up Barack with President Gore and we have an unbeatable dream ticket and America will be put back on the right track.

Replace the abomination in the White House with an ObamaNation in 2008!

mike kohr

An amazing ticket

The ticket that would put the USA right back on top of great nations of the world would be…
Al Gore - President
Barack Obama – Vice President
Hillary Clinton – Secretary of State
Colin Powell - Secretary of Defense
Bill Clinton – Ambassador to the UN

Now that would be a tour de force of brilliant diplomacy and intelligence right there man. America would surely gain its long lost status as the greatest nation in the world once again.

"We can put television in its proper light by supposing that Gutenberg's great invention had been directed at printing only comic books."
-- Robert M. Hutchins, educator (1899-1977)

Gore/Obama

I think the ticket has merit. However, reading any of Hillary's books it is clear while she is a loving mother and wife, her gullability and lack of understand of the world stage would stop her from being an effective Secretary Of State. Also the villainization of her by the Republicans and the press has left her resentful and bitter, even though she has tried to hide it. A good if not great lady, just lacks too much for such an office.

Any administration with Colin Powell high up will be a better administration. He is the kind of person that will benefit the people in any role he accepts. A strong concern about Powell, as he is getting older his usefulness will diminish. The next administration up needs to not let this resource go by the wayside.

Obama is a man that has a very bright horizon. However, its clear in reading his books that his ideology is good, but needs to be tested by experience. This man may very well be America's first black president: But it is up to the people to be sure he is ready and capable to perform the task.

Which brings the discussion to Al Gore. Clearly the primary agenda will be environment. As well it should be. This is a man who has served his country very, very well. This is a man with the experience, the heart, the commitment, the political savvy to be one of the best presidents the country has had.

Lets hope he sees that before the campaign get too far ahead of him.

Gore & Obama

I'd vote for the above also. Gore not only understands the environmental issues, strongly respects the scientific community, but also understands the true extent to which Bush, Cheney and crew have undermined our whole democratic system and ruined our standing in the world. I would want to see him take bold legislative and diplomatic actions to correct these situations. I would want to see him have the courage to stand up and level in person all the charges he's documented in his new book, The Assault on Reason. Every American should read/listen to that book. Too many of us have been asleep at the wheel as this vehicle, our democracy, has been rolling toward the edge of the cliff. I believe Barack is a man of vision and common sense as well. He's intelligent, analytical, excellent at working with people of all parties in service of the common good. I think he would be an excellent leader in the Senate and that would build greater experience for a future as president after Gore. I would love to vote for a woman for President, and I like Hillary, but I feel we would be better served at this moment by Gore and Obama. I would like to see Hillary in a key position, as I would Colin Powell (He would have been better off not associating with the Bush administration at all.). I'm sure Bill will continue his work in diplomacy and solving problems around the world, as will Jimmy Carter. We are one world and we need to act as one. War, any time it occurs, is a failure of mankind. We need to be solving the problems to prevent wars rather than perpetrating them. Iraq and 911 were completely unrelated. Iraq should never have happened and militarily imposing democracy on a country/people is a ludicrous idea. What is democratic about that? Such thinking is either naive, arrogant or stupid. In any case, are these the kind of people we want running our country? Actually I don't think any of the above are true. I think it was far more sinister than that. I think Bush has been bought and paid for by the oil companies and other big polluting industries. From what I've read, it sounds like he's always needed the good ole boys to give him money and bail him out of jams. Maybe it's just been pay back time. What is the price of America these days?

What I do know is that, as citizens, we cannot stand for a president who lies to us at every turn. Bush deserves impeachment, but there's no one better in their group to take his place and we can't afford to waste the time or effort on them at the moment. What is so amazing is the extent that the Republicans went to to try to get Bill out of office for giving in to a momentary temptation (stupid or foolish, but certainly not threatening to our nation and democracy) while they didn't so much as whisper a word about George Bush Sr. giving his mistress positions of responsibility in government for years (See the book on the Bush Dynasty.). Where was their "righteous" indignation then?

one small quibble

Er, Colin Powell as Sec. of Defense? You mean, "My Lai" Powell? Neither butchering Viet civilians nor baldly lying before the world's most important body strikes me as real resume-builders. The Wesley Clark buffs on this thread could come up with a better, more Dem name for the office in a sec.

Colin Powell's military history

It is clear the writer has not taken the time to review the well documented evidence concerning the events he refers to.

Before slamming anyone, especially a man like Colin Powell, it is first important to know the facts, or information referred to, is accurate.

Gore - Obama

bbh
This would be a dream come true!! Can you imagine being able to sleep at night again?? However, be sure to read Greg Palast and find out what we have to do to steal BACK the 2008 election since, according to Greg, Rove has already stolen it and the Repugs start out with 1 million votes up on us. You can buy his book on Buzz Flash. It's called Armed Madhouse, I think. I'm not quite through with it, but it is so well done and SO funny and readable. He is one of the few TRUE investigative journalists left in the world, if you aren't familiar with him. He exposes secrets about everything from 9-11 to New Orleans and he carefully researches everything. This stuff is NOT pulled out of the sky! He has the proof to back it all up. If you need any kind of a recommendation other than Buzz Flash's, consider this one: "We hate this sonovabitch!" - the White House!!

It's scary stuff, but if we could have these 2 great men, I would do just about anything!!! And, thank God, Greg DOES tell us what to do to get the election back!

By the way, I don't know how many of you have kept up with the Senate hearings on Gonzo's crew and the debate on the floor, but I am so impressed with a fairly new senator from Rhode Island that I would LOVE for him to think about running for president after we have our next 2 terms or as a possible running mate, maybe, to someone this time. His name is Sheldon Whitehouse and he is just awesome! He has it all: the looks, the charisma, the sincerity, the true commitment to the PEOPLE and, on top of that, he's obviously VERY intelligent and a good orator! He also has some good experience and was even a US attorney himself at one time, which is why he is so passionate about this situation, I'm sure. If any of you know him, I'd love to hear what others think about this guy. He's one of my new heroes.

Obama is a plant

Obama is a part of the Lieberman wing of the Democratic Party. His major adviser, mentor and money machine is Joe Lieberman. He was put into the race by the corporate Republicans to derail Hillary. He has been sold to us by the MSM and CANNOT BE TRUSTED

SWIFT BOATED

lets start with the KNOWN.... any candidate will be swift-boated by the GOP
--- so if we can quit crying about that, who can we get elected

--- OF COURSE the GOP talking heads are yapping up negative and "double-negative" bullshit... trying to fragment the Dems... and possibly to get a push-over as our candidate... equally possible to get a centrist as our candidate so they get middle or right...

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...... the answer (and this is expecially true to progressives) is to recognize that WE MUST WIN FIRST... and then DIVIDE THE PRIZE

GORE is VERY electable, especially having won once, and with the latest GOP administration in the toilet...

with OBAMA? who cares... ANYONE HE CHOOSES would be great... I for one would prefer
GORE... well spoken (now), pro-environment,
EDWARDS... well spoken, very pro-labor,

I would go with 8 years Gore... 8 years Edwards... 8 years Obama

BUT I TELL ALL OF YOU THIS... DEMOCRATS SUPPORT THE MIDDLE CLASS AND LABOR MORE THAN REPUBLICANS DO.... WITH A 2 PARTY SYSTEM, YOU EITHER BACK YOUR TEAM TO WIN, OR BACK THE GREEN PARTY TO GET THEIR 5% REBATE

WHEN we win.... HILLERY to a new post on women's issues and health care....
OBAMA to a post on minority issues and education... KUCINICH on environment... BIDEN OR BILL CLINTON on foreign issues... RICHARDSON on energy...

but please please please please please please please please please please
please please.....

STOP ALLOWING THE GOP BLOGGING MOLES TO FRACTURE THE PARTY BY CLAIMING THAT "WE ARE BOTH THE SAME AND BOTH BAD"....... CHOOSE THE ONE THAT IS CLOSEST TO YOUR GOALS...
JOIN AND PARTICIPATE... AND PULL THE PARTY TOWARD THE CORRECT GOALS

-----the green party would do well for all of us to advertise green... and vote dem

-----------THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE IN 2004 WERE THE REPUBLICANS WHO CONVINCED THEIR ARCH-ENEMY CONSERVATIONISTS THAT THEY SHOULD VOTE GREEN....???BECAUSE...what??? GORE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT

as our honored president is famous for saying... "fool me once, shame on--- god damn it quit trying to fool me"

Gore/Dean 2008 That's the ticket!

Howard Dean proved himself to be invaluable as Chairman of the DNC. It was he who was directly responsible for the Democrats winning on all levels of government throughout the country. He traveled around the country to encourage people to run for public office for the first time. More importantly, he taught those people how to win elections!

Howard Dean has done the most of any of the current Democratic candidates to help win the country back. That is why only he is qualifed to be Al Gore's running mate.

Howard Dean may have promised not to run for President in 2008 as a precondition to being elected as the Chairman of the DNC. BUT, he never said anything about not running for Vice President!

Gore/Dean 2008!

In the future maybe, but not 2008

Hillary is not unelectable just because Rush and Shawn hate her. Britian had a woman, Germany, India... it could happen.
Al Gore couldn't get elected with a Jew, what makes you think a black is a better idea? Talk about unelectable. Please.
The democrats have to win this time. The very future of the planet depends on it. Even wasting one minute considering Obama as a viable candidate is the stupidist, most suicidal move possible. Get real. How is it we Democrats keep finding new ways to loose?
If Romney wins in 08, as I suspect he will, eight years from then Al Gore may come back out of the wilderness, like Churchill, to rescue western civilization from itself... but, even then he would loose with a black on his ticket.

the cooler

Excuse me.....

Excuse me but Al Gore did get elected despite the media trashing him constantly.

The only way a Republican can win in '08 is if election fraud happens again.

Then I want to see the voter revolution.

Single payer health system and out of Iraq NOW-you get my vote.

Gore and anyone (except Lieberman) is OK by me.

One thing Democrats can expect is zero support from the MSM.

Love Hillary but don't think she is electable

angie

I think Hillary would make an excellent president; I have the greatest respect for her. Given all the Whitewater trash, etc., I think FAUX News would simply hammer away at the lies and slander, 24/7, until their lies become reality for viewers. Most people do not have the will and the passion to seek out the truth. Like it or not, the type of crap FAUX spews is effective.

Having read Hillary's autobiography, I think she and Bill would make excellent ambassadors at large under a new Dem president. In that capacity, they would serve a purpose desperately needed at this time to begin to correct the hideous and pervasive damage Bush and the neocons have done to America's standing in the world.

A mormon?

You think A Jew or a Black (your term) can't be elected vice president, but a mormon who's opinions change every month can be elected? Get a grip. Are you a troll, or are you serious?

The Worst of the Worst

angie

I agree. Romney is the worst of the worst. He is the ultimate opportunist who will say anything to get elected.

He got elected in MA as an allegedly accomplished businessman who would focus on jobs and industry. Once elected, he did absolutely nothing for either, and spent his entire tenure as gov fighting against gay marriage so as to be able to use it to catapult himself to a national candidacy.

He is a slick, devious, smarmy empty suit.

Gore-Obama...or Gore-Edwards

Either of the above tickets would be electable against any of the Republican tickets, except perhaps Lincoln-Eisenhower. Hillary may be more conservative than that guy from Connecticut, what'zizname?, Benedict Lieberman.

The key word is not "best" but "electable"

angie

I know of Republicans who have been contributing to Hillary's campaign. Republicans are salivating at the thought of running against her. She is unelectable at the top of the ticket. Obama on the ticket as VP could work. This country is long overdue for an African American in the White House.

I have read comments here regarding Dennis Kucinich. He would of course make the very very best president, in every sense of the word, but he, too, is sadly unelectable.

Dems may not be perfect, but they do represent a better course for America. It is pointless to criticize their shortcomings when the alternative is so much worse.

Dems must nominate an electable candidate. Perhaps Gore. He has vastly improved his public image, and before you jump all over that comment, like it or not, image matters. (Consider the average voter.) Perhaps Edwards, perhaps even Biden.

The comment about generating a wide enough margin to prevent yet another stolen election was absolutely right on. Dems can not win a close election. There is vast voter fraud/suppression machinery currently in place in swing states that will take decades to unravel.

what a dream ticket!!!!!

gore is soooooo smart & obama is sooooo charming--how can they miss?

Gore-Obama-NO

This is my take: For the past many months Hillary and Barack have been running for president, backed by HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY. Where does the money come from? Big corporate and individual wealth, of course.

Ask yourself this: Why would Bush's base, people who favor a continuation and expansion of corporatism, want to see Hillary and Barack as the Democratic ticket? For the same reason they support Green candidates. To defeat Democrats. I don't believe either Hillary or Barack are electable. I hope the Dems will not be fooled during the primaries.

Back to Al Gore: He has done more for this country as a private citizen than he ever did as vice president, or would be able to do as president. He has raised this country out of the stupor that ignored global climate change. No easy task when you consider the attempts of the Republicans (and therefore main stream media) to try to cover up and belittle the truth.

And now, with his new book, "Assault on Reason," there is a good chance he'll be able to open many peoples' eyes to the political dangers we face: the abuse of media, religious and political power. If he becomes president, he'll be attacked nonstop by the right wing, and his true, passionate voice will not be heard as it is now.

This is my opinion.

Attacked or not...

Attacked by the right wing or not, we need someone representing us to stand up to these people, and we have to have the courage to stand along side him. These power-hungry demagogues (sp?) have done a great job duping a lot of religious believers by quoting a lot of scripture and yelling "moral" every other sentence, but the rest of us have got to see through this mockery of righteousness, and take back the country. Assault on Reason is the best evidence I've seen anywhere that suggests there might be hope reclaiming our democracy and our leadership (not dominance) in the world and I say if Al wrote it, he'd better have the courage to live it and lead it.

Obama advisor is PNAC signer

Neocon Ivo Daalder. And now we're learning via Chicago Tribune that Obama had been plotting and planning to run for prez since he was elected U.S. senator - surrounding himself with PR and marketing strategists. But rather than use his time to call for an end to the war - he was busy funding it and opposing timetables - while John Edwards was calling for Iraq withdrawal.
Also during his time in the senate - Obama has engaged in "bipartisanship" by voting with Repubs for 3 rightwing nutjob judicial nominees - and sponsoring a bill that rapes the environment and benefits the coal indu$try. No wonder the Republicans like him!
So - with all these hypocrisies, it's very doubtful Gore would be interested in aligning himself with Obama.
Also - noted is the absence on BuzzFlash of any reference to the current articles about Obama's Rezko problems....

People First - Kucinich / Sanders

Lets make it a clean sweep, vote against the status quo

Gore an Obama

I see it Edwards and Obama.

Gore/Obama

I think this would not be a good idea. Gore said last week that he doesn't do politics well. He is another Jimmy Carter. Politics was the gateway to their life's work, with the exception that Gore would make a great cabinet member, perhaps head of EPA. He could do so much more there.

My ticket is Edwards/Obama. Granted, there is no perfect candidate from a Progressive viewpoint; the DNC has too much sway, but Edwards is so much better than Hillary. Run Hillary in order to energize the Republican base.

So ... Edwards/Obama with Gore having the ability to say what needs to be said during the campaign. He showed his mettle by admitting that politics is not his game. His talents should be used where they are the most effective, and that is not President. He is better than that, I am saddened to say.

GORE / FEINGOLD -- OR GORE / KUCINICH would be better.

Although Obama has a good attitude in general, his book and recent comments show him to be somewhat shallow and naive about too many things. The man is too inexperienced and his vision for the U.S. too narrow. He has almost zero understanding of the need to address extremely serious environmental problems. Obama's comments about the war in Iraq are disturbing.

Feingold and Kucinich are much more able, have proven their integrity, have done more important work, have investigative minds, and are not afraid to speak out. I do not like Obama's timidity and his "skim the surface" issue dancing.

Strategically however -- to overcome the voting machine fraud which is now built into the nationwide DRE computerized system with no real verification possible -- a GORE / OBAMA ticket might be the only way to overcome the odds. The win has to absolutely overwhelming to overcome the SCALE of the voting fraud that is now possible.

OBAMA is going to get a major portion of the black vote no matter what -- no matter what ticket he's on. That would tip the scales in Gore's favor.
